Ann Elizabeth Thiermann
A few words from the artist
As a classically trained fine artist with
both a figurative and landscape background, my murals - designed for
museums, institutions, and private settings - reflect craftsmanship,
atmospheric space, and my love for the beauty of the physical surroundings,
especially Northern California. My Monterey Bay murals frequently use
the "field notes" from my "plein air" (on location)
pastel paintings. I love teaching and offer a variety of painting and
drawing courses through UCSC Extension and Monterey Peninsula College.
My classical music background inspires movement and flow in my work. Ann's academic
training includes a BA in Art, three years of figurative study at the
Art League of NYC, and an MBA in Painting and Drawing. Her work is in
a variety of West coast collections. You can view her murals at the
Half Moon Bay Museum, in the Waddell creek Nature Center north of Santa
Cruz, at the
Santa
Cruz Museum of Natural History, at the Aptos Deerpark Shopping
Center in Delux Foods, on Main Street in Watsonville across from Gottschalks,
and on Pearl Alley between Pacific and Cedar in Santa Cruz. In 2003
Ms. Thiermann will complete dioramas for the new Butano State Park Nature
Center and an underwater mural for a new exhibit at the Seacliff State
Beach Nature Center.
