5/8/06: This week, Great Blue Heron in Flight by Steve Saperstein. This shot was taken in November of 2005 near Hummingbird Island from a kayak. Camera was a Canon XT with 100-400 mm zoom at f/7.1, 1/1250 sec, 400mm.

Steve is an amateur photographer who enjoys kayaking in the slough. He has over 100 photos of birds in the slough, all taken from his trusty kayak. According to Steve, "I have only capsized once with my camera and, fortunately, it was in a dry bag at the time!"
