We will feature a new winning photograph each month.

Flight of the Great Egret

8/1/06: This month we feature a shot by Robert Syms. This photograph was taken July of this year in the main channel of the Slough about 1/2 mile south of Kirby Park.

Details: Canon 20D Digital 8.2MP SLR with 140-400 Canon Image Stabilized USM and 70mm UV filter. ISO-100, f/5.6, 400mm, 1/320 sec., Manual Mode

Robert works for PG&E but as a second business he runs a home photography studio where he and his wife mostly shoot maternity, infants and young children. According to Robert, "Once in a while I like to get out doors and play around with the fancy camera equipment. During this 4th of July weekend my brother and I brought the double kayak to the slough for a relaxing 10 mile tour of Rubis Creek and the main channel. We love to watch the sea otters, egrets, and other wildlife of the slough."
