Summer Flowers at Porter Ranch
7/11/08

Though Porter’s grasslands are turning brown for the summer, its hills still bear beautiful late-blooming native wildflowers. As poppies and lupines fade, mariposa lily, California milkweed and four different species of tarplant spring to life. Cattle grazing plays a major role in the wildflowers’ success. Porter Ranch’s carefully managed grazing regime helps native species thrive in its grasslands. You can read more about the Ranch and the T. O. Cattle Company here http://www.elkhornslough.org/newsletter/news0506.htm .
