Indian Warrior
3/27/06

One of the fun parts about being part of the Foundation’s land staff is working up close and personal with nature.  Land Manager Kim Hayes snapped this picture of  Pedicularis densiflora, commonly known as Indian warrior.  All of the Pedicularis are tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, powerful aphrodisiacs and sedatives. (No, we won’t tell you where this bunch can be found, but Kim says it’s her favorite place in the watershed.)  The buds are sold as medicinal herbs.  The plant is native to western North America and is found in forests and woodlands at low elevations.
