Talking Trash...
4/24/06

Here John Kenney, our Farmland Manger, uses a hay hook to retrieve one of two mattresses illegally dumped into Porter Marsh.  It was soaked with water, so John used a chain and our truck to haul out both mattresses.  Our land staff regularly picks up a wide variety of illegal trash dumped on our properties (and occasionally along public roads, such as this), including car batteries, a lot of tires, and two soda vending machines!  (The structure next to John is part of the tide gates that control the flow of salt water from the slough into Porter Marsh.)
