Picture the work behind conservation...

Happy for Hay
11/1/07

Earlier in the summer Elkhorn Slough Foundation removed this 12-foot deep gully from a hillside on The Nature Conservancy’s Blohm Ranch which we help to manage. The final step in the restoration process was securing exposed soil to prevent future erosion. Prunedale Boy Scout Troop 275 pitched in this month, seeding 4 acres with a mix of native seeds and annual barley, and spreading 34 bales of rice straw. Our thanks to Troop 275 for coming out on short notice and making a big impact!
