History of Elkhorn Slough

<-- previous next -->

1876
– Above we see the raised trestles of the narrow-guage rail system at Hudson's Landing, with three flatcars on the spur.

The steamer Vaquero tied up at Hudson's Landing. On the deck is a narrow-gauge rail car resting on a length of track which itself is on a turntable. These cars were rolled directly from the landing's narrow-guage system onto the steamship and then were ferried to Moss Landing, where they were off-loaded onto tracks that ran along the pier to waiting freighters.
