History of Elkhorn Slough

<-- previous next -->

1930s
– This aerial view looking north shows Moss Landing before the harbor entry channel was built in 1946. The coast road turns onto a bridge over Moro Cojo Slough, then proceeds north to the bridge over Elkhorn Slough.

A later aerial shows the same area looking south. Now the coast road has been diverted around Moss Landing with a new bridge over Moro Cojo Slough. At the very top, the Salinas River empties into the sea; parallel to the coastline is the pre-1908 channel of the river that fed into the slough. (Click here for a larger view.)
