This juvenile Leopard
Shark (14 inches long) was recently netted, measured, weighed,
and released by the researchers
of the Pelagic Shark Research Foundation, which has been investigating
the behavior of the seven shark species known to visit Elkhorn
Slough. The spiral shells on the mudflat are Japanese Horn Snails
(Batillaria
attramentaria), an invasive
species that is now well established in the slough. |
