9/2/02: The mud and rocks around the footbridge in the South Marsh Loop Trail are great places to see Lined Shore Crabs (Pachygrapsus crassipes). This handsome specimen looks innocent enough from the back, but walk around to the front and you see he's eating ... uh oh ... another crab (in this case, another common denizen of the slough - the Yellow Mud Crab, Hemigrapsus oregonensis).
