11/18/02: Have you seen the "granary trees" on the South Marsh Loop Trail? They are just north of Cattail Swail. Family groups of our resident Acorn Woodpeckers (Melanerpes formicivorus - inset) bore holes in tree bark (as they also hunt for insects) and store acorns for times when food is scarce.
