Pelagic Jelly

12/2/02: Because the main channel of Elkhorn Slough is subject to significant tidal currents, pelagic (open ocean) and near-shore invertebrates, like this Purple-striped jelly (Chrysaora colorata), sometimes make an appearance in its waters. A leaf of eel grass completes the picture.
