One shrub that continues to bloom well into the winter is the
Pajaro Manzanita (Arctostaphylos pajarensis, a local species
that is a hallmark of the rare maritime
chaparral found in the slough watershed). This is good news
for the local honeybees (which are actually a non-native species,
Apis mellifera, from Europe).
