2/24/03:
If you've been to the Reserve in recent weeks, you know that our
Tree Swallows (Tachycineta
bicolor) are back in force, zooming around over the meadows
after insects (they can fly 600 miles in a day, feeding) and filling
the air with their liquid, chortling calls. Soon they will set
up houskeeping. Here, one stands lookout while the other inspects
one of our bird boxes as a possible nesting site.
