 Not a silk purse, but a purse nest finely woven by a pair of bushtits. 
Light, water, and mud create a fine effect at low tide in the rookery lagoon.  In springtime, three's a crowd – a male Canada goose with head lowered wants no competition for his mate. It took him several minutes to convince the rival to am-scray. 
.A mini murder mystery: What would account for a dead mole, showing no signs of poor health, in the middle of the trail (the third such corpse I've encountered recently)? The solution (alas): power lawnmowers. |
