06/02/03:
It seems that the widespread bird housekeeping
is paying off. This juvenile Tree Swallow (Tachycineta
bicolor)
is resting its wings after a short test flight over the South
Slough Loop Trail. The juvenile is almost full size, but its quick
flights and extended perches so different from the energetic
acrobatics of the adults as they hunt flying insects was
the clue to its age.
