1/12/2004: Some of the earliest blossoms you'll see on the Reserve are those in the lush stands of Periwinkle (Vinca minor) lining the South Marsh Loop Trail east of the Rookery. A website on homeopathy lists Periwinkle as a tonic for the fear of death. This pretty flower is, alas, an invasive non-native species.
