Here's a look at Porter Marsh from high on the Blohm property, looking very different from a photo taken before the rains.


The tidegates between Elkhorn Road and Hudson's Landing act like an overflow drain in a bathtub: they keep the freshwater level in the marsh from getting too high while keeping out saltwater from the slough.


Here are the same gates at pre-rain water levels.
