Stereo Heron

7/19/2004: All right, slough fans – let's try a little experiment in 3D vision. From a distance of about two feet from your monitor, if you can "de-focus" your eyes (like looking into the far distance) so that your left eye is looking directly at the left-hand heron and your right eye is looking at the right-hand heron, the two birds will "come together" in the middle and, when they are fully aligned, you will see a 3D image of a Blue Heron against the banks of the slough. Try it – you'll like it!
