They used to be called tree frogs (though they are seldom found
in trees). Now they're called Chorus Frogs (Pseudacris
regilla "pseudacris" means "false
grasshopper"). By any name, these little frogs (the ones
pictured here were about 5/8ths of an inch long) were hanging
out on the leaves of the bur-reeds (Sparganium
eurycarpum) in Cattail Swale. They vary
a good deal in color, as you can see. The one at lower left
has found a coloration that provides particularly effective camoflage
on that particular leaf.
