November 4, 2004 – kite season!

Now is a great time of year for flying kites on the Reserve - White-tailed Kites, that is. You'll often see them perched in the oaks to the south of the Visitor Center meadow and below the overlook.

They've been giving us good looks as they fly overhead.

But the real treat, of course, is watching them hover as they focus in on their prey.

This one alit after it had hunted a while on a misty morning...

...so it left its wings down to dry out a bit before it tucked them away.
