Phoebe Jeebies

11/29/2004: A post-top perch is typical for both species of phoebes found on the Reserve - at left, a Black Phoebe (Sayornis nigricans) and at right a Say's Phoebe (Sayornis saya). Both birds sally forth from open perches and hunt insects on the wing. (Click here to see these birds in action.)
