This handsomely marked insect is a Yarn Moth (Tolype
sp.), so named not because of its eating habits, but because
its hair-covered body makes it look like a ball of yarn. It's
thought that the hairs help disguise the outline of the moth,
which relies on its cryptic coloring to protect it while it sleeps
during the day |
