12/19/2005: The storm over the weekend produced huge waves in Moss Landing – great news for the surfers, but not so great for the slough. Waves coming through the harbor and into the slough only accelerate the process of "tidal scour" – the erosion and destruction of the slough's salt marshes. The Tidal Wetland Plan now in development seeks to find ways to reduce this erosion.
