Artist in Residence, Fall 2016
Mel Jackson was our artist in residence for Fall 2016.
His studio is in Redding, California. He works with many mediums, but has focused on watercolors the last few years. He enjoys bringing life to paper with vibrant colors and finding new ways to make people see things. One unusual style he developed involves using the paper taken from tea bags and painting intimate scenes of the many trails he has hiked in Northern California.
The paintings seen here are tea bag paintings done on the trails here at Elkhorn Slough.
Mel lead a class and took part in our Annual Open House at the Elkhorn Slough Reserve.
