Currently, Elkhorn Slough Foundation owns or manages more than 3,500 acres of land in the Elkhorn Slough watershed. These lands are critical to the long-term health of the entire Elkhorn Slough ecosystem. For a relatively small investment today, we will be able to protect the lands in and around the Central Coast’s premiere estuary.

It’s hard to imagine a greater legacy than preserved land. Elkhorn Slough Foundation has promised to care for thousands of acres on the Central California Coast. To assure this perpetual protection, our Board of Directors has established a permanent endowment. By including the Elkhorn Slough Foundation in your will or estate plan, you are helping leave a legacy for future generations. Through your will or revocable living trust, you can specify that a portion of your assets benefit the Elkhorn Slough Foundation beyond your lifetime, and your estate can take a charitable deduction for the amount of your bequest.

Gifts of Stock
ESF welcomes stock donations to support our work conserving and restoring the Elkhorn Slough and its watershed. Stock contributions can provide significant tax advantages for you too.
Generally, you can receive an immediate tax deduction for the value of the donated stock at the time you donate it and avoid paying capital gains taxes on stock that has appreciated significantly in value since you purchased it (to qualify you must own your stock for more than one year). Please consult your tax advisor for how donating stock to ESF will best benefit you.
