Field Notes from Sand Hill Farm
As you can see in the photo, heavy equipment has arrived at Sand Hill Farm and it’s making quick progress on some of these badly damaged hillsides. The clean-up continues with the arrival of a trash dumpster that we are quickly filling with the help of the California Conservation Corps. The CCC crew returned this week after a week away working on the wildfire in Big Sur. They will be spending the next two weeks removing more drip tape and erosion control sheet plastic. Despite all the commotion happening at the farm, our Land Steward Ken has reported seeing a great blue heron everyday and even a coyote digging in the newly disked soil.
