Invertebrate Invasions

K. Wasson, together with collaborators from University of California Santa Cruz, has documented extensive invertebrate invasions of Elkhorn Slough. Some of these invaders arrived on cultured oysters, while others arrived via intraregional transport from highly invaded ports such as San Francisco Bay.

Wasson has also collaborated with M. Tamburri (from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute) to test a novel method of treating ballast water, which may simultaneously benefit ship owners and reduce marine invasions.
