Weather Monitoring

The NERR system-wide monitoring program, operating since 1995, offers excellent temporal coverage. In this program, water quality data is collected every 30 minutes at four stations along the main Slough channel and weather data is collected every 30 minutes at one station on the Reserve.

The weather information reported here is provided by the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve.

Elkhorn Slough rain summary through 2/24/08

We've had a lot of rain this year, but believe it or not we still are not at our 10 yr average, granted that is slightly skewed because our dataset starts at the 98 El Nino.

Highlights
Oct: It was looking like a very wet year; our second wettest Oct on record! More than twice the average for Oct (1.94 in, average 0.74).
Nov-Dec: Nov was the second DRIEST Nov on record (0.7in, average 1.86), Dec was pretty dry too this year (1.92 average 3.18).
Jan: Wow that was wet, second only to El Nino 98! Almost twice average for Jan! (5.74! average 3.12)
Feb: Below average for Feb (1.92 average 3.73) During El Nino, we got 13.24 inches! in one month, more that what we got in all of 06-07 (10.46 in.)!!

In total thus far this year we have 12.22 in. but still have Mar, Apr and May to go.
