Three years ago the Elkhorn Slough Foundation joined forces with North Monterey County High School to assist in bringing environmental education to the students. The Slough Crew program, an extra curricular club sponsored by the Elkhorn Slough Foundation, works with the school’s science department and features field trips to the Reserve, kayaking tours, Earth Week events, and a range of environmental experiences.
The latest is a partnership with North County Recreation and Park District where North County High students (members of the Slough Crew too) lead nature walks at land adjoining Rancho Moro Cojo Park in Castroville. The walks are free and happen each Saturday at 10am until July 22, 2017. Come out to enjoy a walk and support the students.
