River of Birds

As part of the River of Birds Project, students from Moss Landing Middle School visited the Elkhorn Slough Reserve on March 30, 2001. They then created website reports about birds that migrate and live in Elkhorn Slough. Choose a child's name below to view their report. For more information about this project see below.

What is River of Birds? The River of Birds Project is an online environmental science pilot project developed in collaboration between the science education program at Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, Moss Landing Middle School in Watsonville, CA, and the California State University, Monterey Bay. On April 17, 2001, students took part in a live webcast to Elkhorn Slough. These sixth grade students were able to query a research biologist in the field, see him live in the field from their web browser on a classroom computer, and talk with the scientist via a separate cellular link. The event was part of a six week online science class that focused on bird migration along the Pacific Flyway.

Coming Soon...detailed description and synopsis of this web-based field trip to Elkhorn Slough.
