Field Notes from Sand Hill Farm
The restoration process has begun at our Sand Hill Farm. Within weeks of closing escrow, ESF had teams from the California Conservation Corps (CCC) out removing agricultural plastic. Right now, this hardy crew is working on removing drip tape from the former strawberry fields. The tape has been out in the sun baking for years, so it needs to be removed in segments by hand. The CCCs are able to get about 2.8 acres of tape removed daily. This hot, time-intensive work will continue for weeks while the teams clean the long steep fields.
